Natural Wedding Guest Glam

Natural Wedding Guest Glam

I’ll be the first to admit I’m no makeup artist. While I love getting dressed up, my everyday makeup look is very minimal. I like my skin to be able to breathe and if I’m being honest here – I don’t have the time nor the energy to contour before my morning business law class. With all this being said however, I went to a wedding a couple of weeks back, got a little glammed up, and received some questions and compliments on my makeup. So here I am now, writing a blog post on how to achieve the natural glam look.

1. Prep

I start with a lightweight moisturizer and my current go to is from First Aid Beauty. This particular one is oil-free and non-comedogenic and my sensitive skin loves it. If your moisturizer doesn’t have SPF, add some into your routine. Just because it’s not summer doesn’t mean that you can skimp on the sunscreen. I’m planning on trying the Glossier Invisible Shield next. After applying these, I like to use the Benefit Porefessional Primer. I’ve been using it for a couple of years and have no complaints!

2. Face

I like being able to see my freckles and beauty marks so I try to not pile too much of my face makeup on. I start with concealer and currently use the Tarte Shape Tape in Fair Neutral which is a bit lighter than my actual skin tone. This stuff is full coverage and can cover everything from acne to dark circles. (I use it pretty sparingly.) After concealer, I use Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Weightless Liquid Makeup for my foundation. I used the shade 1.5 for the wedding, which was just a touch lighter than I would have liked for my skin tone. I didn’t contour for this look, but I did use a bit of the Laura Geller Baked Body Frosting to give myself the bronzed and sunkissed effect. To do this, I took my brush and accented my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, and across the tops of my cheeks. I then give my mirror a big cheesy grin and apply the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in the shade “Paaarty” to the apples of my cheeks. Very fitting name for the occasion if I do say so myself.

3. Eyes

My eyebrows are naturally very dark, so I didn’t apply anything to them. Just brushed them out a bit and tried to tame them. For my eyeshadow I used the NAKED3 palette. For a base color I used the shade “Limit” and for my crease I used the shades “Factory” and “Blackheart.” I then used the pale rosy-metallic shimmer shade “Dust” for some glitter on top of my lid. I used a small amount of the Lancôme Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir Intense on the bottom corner of my waterline. Lastly, I used the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara. I typically don’t use waterproof, but I wanted it to last through any wedding tears at the ceremony and late night dancing at the reception.

4. Finish

I end my look with BITE Matte Crème Lip Crayon in “Glacé.” This shade is so natural looking, but still provides me with just a touch of color. Then before I head out the door, I use the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. And voilà, your look is complete!

How did you like the waterproof mascara? I’ve never tried it but I love their normal formula!

I personally like the original formula better, but this definitely did it’s job! It lasted all night and never once smeared. I will say that it felt a bit tacky when I first applied it, but it was fine afterwards. It came off easier than some other waterproof formulas I have tried, but I did have to use a cleanser and coconut oil.

I also never put anything in my eyebrows bc they are so naturally dark and thick! I love that you are embracing your skin and not going full coverage all the way when I feel like most women do for weddings!! You looked great!

Thank you so much, what a great compliment to receive! As I get older, I’ve learned to start appreciating my dark eyebrows and natural skin more and more. I think there’s beauty in the natural “imperfections.”
