The plain white tee is a closet staple. It’s so simple and comfy, but can be dressed up and made to look stylish. So long are the days when it was just used for lounging around or as an undershirt. I like wearing it when I need to look a little put together but feel a little lazy! It’s an outfit that anyone can put together for practically any occasion.
Finding a great white tee shirt can be a bit hard. Scoop neck or v-neck? Cropped or flowing? Save or splurge? Personally, I like a longer length with a scoop neck. I choose a little bit of a longer length rather than cropped so it can be tied at my stomach or tucked into pants. I tend to gravitate towards scoop necks more, but that’s just a personal preference. My favorite plain white tee is from Topshop, but I got it at Nordstrom. It’s under $20 and I really like it. It’s not the softest tee I’ve ever had, but I feel like it’s still a very solid pick.
I LOVE the pre-rolled sleeves, it adds a little stylish factor to the basic top. Which brings me to my first tip for upgrading your basic tee – find new ways to tuck or tie it. Rolling your sleeves, tying the bottom above your midriff, or tucking in the front into a skirt or pair of pants elevates the look almost immediately. It makes it look like you tried even though it took you .02 seconds. Win.
